Controversies Surrounding Mexican Legislative Changes

Senator Manuel Velasco highlights struggles within the Morena caucus over laws against nepotism, while Trump postures on tariffs and election integrity rises in debate.

Controversies Surrounding Mexican Legislative Changes

Senator Manuel Velasco has revealed that behind the motions raised by members of the Morena bench in San Lázaro to reverse changes to the anti-nepotism law is Deputy Alfonso Ramírez Cuéllar, despite the fact that they still have at least two years of joint work ahead.

Regarding foreign policy, it was announced that tariffs imposed against Mexico and Canada will come into effect on April 2, which has raised questions about the reasoning behind the White House's decisions.

On another note, the National Electoral Institute resolved a complaint filed against magistrate Luis Espíndola, from the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation, for posting an electoral ballot on social media that could be interpreted as early campaigning. Although the publication was removed, there was an emphasis on the moral responsibility of the members of the TEPJF.

In another line of thought, there is mention of a possible disagreement in the TEPJF between the presiding magistrate, Mónica Soto, and two other magistrates over differences in the stance on the single polling place model for the judicial election.

For his part, President Trump has expressed his superstition by postponing an action he had planned for April 1. Meanwhile, details related to the request for the impeachment of former soccer player Cuauhtémoc Blanco in Morelos remain pending.

Additionally, the initiative presented by PRI deputy Abigail Arredondo against "chapulines" who switch parties is highlighted, while it is mentioned that the Morena bench designated deputy Ernesto Prieto Gallardo as its representative to the INE in a close internal vote.

These are some of the topics that have marked the recent political agenda, addressing everything from internal conflicts in key institutions to relevant decisions concerning national and international policy.
